Handles and shafts are the operating interfaces of SIRCO, FUSERBLOC and FUSOMAT switch-disconnectors, allowing front or side operation depending on the panel configuration. These accessories come in direct versions for mounting on the bare device and external versions for remote operation through the door, with IP55 or IP65 protection ratings and adjustable shafts from 150 to 320 mm compatible with IEC 60947-3.

Handle types and operating modes for switch-disconnectors

Direct handles for built-in control

Direct handles of the MOO, MC0 and MC01 types fix directly onto the mechanism of the bare switch-disconnector. Our standard practice favours this configuration for open-panel installations where the operator has direct access to the device. Colour immediately identifies the function: blue for normal control, red for emergency stop, black for general use.

External handles for remote operation through the door

External handles of the SOO, S1 and MC1 types transmit rotary motion through the panel door via an operating shaft. We recommend this solution when the switch-disconnector is mounted at the rear of the panel and the operation must remain accessible from outside. This approach preserves the integrity of the compartment while maintaining visible-break functionality.

Operating shafts and mechanical adaptability

Length ranges and on-site cutting to size

External operating shafts, referenced S000 and MC1, cover a range of 150 to 320 mm depending on the rating of the associated switch-disconnector. Our installation experience confirms that the ability to cut the shaft to the actual depth of the panel removes the need for a custom-made control. Steel or composite shafts retain sufficient rigidity to transmit the operating torque without deforming.

Cross-range compatibility between devices

The same bare switch-disconnector can be configured for direct or remote control simply by changing the handle. Our installation feedback shows that this modularity significantly reduces the number of references installers and integrators need to stock. Handles and shafts ensure compatibility with the SIRCO, FUSERBLOC, SIDERMAT and FUSOMAT ranges without modifying the base body.

Protection and materials for industrial environments

IP55 and IP65 protection ratings depending on the installation

Standard versions provide IP55 protection against dust and water splashing. Reinforced versions reach IP65 for damp or dusty environments where the external control must withstand harsh conditions. Our commissioning tests show that choosing the right protection rating extends the service life of the control function.

Material composition and mechanical strength

Handles are made of polycarbonate, offering resistance to impacts and to the chemical agents commonly found in industrial settings. Steel or cuttable composite shafts combine structural rigidity with ease of adaptation. In the field, we observe that these materials maintain their performance over the service life of the panel equipment.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a direct handle and an external handle?

A direct handle mounts on the bare device for control in an open panel, whereas an external handle combines a door interface with a through-shaft to operate a device located at the rear of the panel. The choice depends on the accessibility required and the enclosure configuration.

How is the shaft length required for remote operation determined?

Shaft length is calculated from the usable depth of the panel, the position of the switch-disconnector and the thickness of the door. Cuttable shafts from 150 to 320 mm allow this dimension to be adjusted on site without ordering a specific reference.

Does the colour of the handles correspond to a standardised functional code?

Blue identifies normal control, red identifies emergency stop, and black identifies general functions. This visual coding makes it easier for the operator to quickly identify the function during maintenance or intervention.

Are IP65 handles suitable for unsheltered outdoor installation?

The IP65 rating protects against dust and water jets, which covers most damp or dusty industrial environments. For prolonged direct exposure to the weather with possible immersion, an additional check of the installation context remains necessary.
