What is a disconnect switch?
A switch-disconnector is an electromechanical device designed to open and close an electrical circuit without protection against overcurrents or short circuits. It is mainly used to cut off or isolate electrical current when it is necessary to carry out work on the circuit without risk of electric shock. The load-break switch does not provide overload or short-circuit protection.
