Technical Description
The ISOM DLD240-12 (Socomec reference 47964202) is an insulation fault locating device designed for control circuits in IT (ungrounded) networks. It precisely identifies, among the 12 connected circuits, which one is affected by a first insulation fault — including transient faults and high-resistance faults.
The DLD240-12 operates as part of a complete ISOM system. It receives the search signal injected by the ISOM ALD395 or ALD495 monitoring unit, detects it through special DLD240 detection current transformers fitted on each outgoing circuit, and identifies the faulty feeder. Simultaneous scanning of all channels eliminates sequential analysis delays.
It replaces the previous DLD260-12 and DLD290-12 models (70-276V supply) with an extended universal supply of 24-240V AC/DC, covering virtually all control panel architectures. The configurable digital output enables integration with a PLC or SCADA system.
Key distinction from the DLD440-12: the DLD240-12 is designed for control and command circuits (low power, 50/60 Hz, differential current up to 2 A). For main industrial distribution circuits or DC photovoltaic networks (up to 1,500V), the DLD440-12 (ref. 47964402) is required.

Selection rule: for control and command circuits (control panels, PLCs, lifts, data buses) or medical locations, choose the DLD240-12. For main industrial distribution (main switchboards, process circuits, PV networks), use the DLD440-12.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Socomec ISOM DLD240-12 used for?
The ISOM DLD240-12 is an insulation fault locator for control circuits in IT networks. Once the ISOM ALD395/495 monitoring unit has detected a first insulation fault, the DLD240-12 precisely identifies which of the 12 connected circuits is affected — including transient faults and high-resistance faults. Without a locator, the technician must disconnect each feeder one by one, causing uncontrolled downtime.
What is the difference between the DLD240-12 and the DLD440-12?
The DLD240-12 is designed for low-power control circuits: differential current 100 mA to 2 A, frequency 50/60 Hz. The DLD440-12 targets main industrial distribution with a current range up to 20 A and a frequency range of 42 Hz to 1 kHz, enabling detection of transient faults across a much wider frequency band. For a main switchboard, PV network or power circuit, the DLD440-12 is required.
Does the DLD240-12 replace the DLD260-12?
Yes. The DLD240-12 (ref. 47964202, effective date 23/08/2024) is the official successor to the DLD260-12 (ref. 47962002 and 47962612), DLD290-12 (ref. 47962003) and DLD260-12D (ref. 47962004). The key change is the extended supply voltage from 70-276V to 24-240V AC/DC. Note: the detection current transformers are different — verify CT compatibility before replacing.
Which monitoring unit should be paired with the DLD240-12?
The DLD240-12 connects to the Socomec ISOM ALD395 (standard, local display) or ISOM ALD495 (extended display, Modbus RS485 communication). The monitoring unit generates the injection signal; the DLD240-12 detects it through the special detection CTs and identifies the faulty feeder. Without an ISOM monitoring unit, the DLD240-12 has no standalone function.
Can the DLD240-12 be used in a medical location?
Yes. The DLD240-12 is the appropriate device for medical locations (operating theatres, treatment rooms) where IT control circuits require insulation monitoring. Standards NF C 15-211 and IEC 61557-9 apply to these installations. Contact our team for configuration guidance specific to medical requirements: +33 1 43 44 60 00.
